Month-by-Month
December - May: The Prime Season
The northeast trades blow steadily at 15-20 knots throughout the prime season. Sailing south from St Vincent to Grenada is a beam-to-broad reach almost the entire way. The Tobago Cays Marine Park - four uninhabited islands inside a horseshoe reef - is the undisputed highlight. Book mooring buoys in advance in January-March as they fill quickly.
June - July: Late Season Bonus
June and July are excellent months that many sailors overlook. Charter rates drop 25-40%, anchorages thin out, and the Grenadines remain largely south of significant hurricane activity.
Highlights: Anchorages Not to Miss
Bequia: The finest island in the Grenadines for provisioning and restaurants. Admiralty Bay is a superb natural harbour.
Tobago Cays: Protected marine park with world-class snorkeling over the Horseshoe Reef. Arrive before noon to secure a mooring.
Mayreau: Tiny, unhurried island with Salt Whistle Bay - a picture-perfect double anchorage.
Charter Costs
A 44ft catamaran in high season costs $5,000-$8,500/week bareboat from St Vincent or Grenada. Low season (June-November) drops to $3,200-$5,500/week.
