Overview
The Mediterranean sailing season runs from April through October, but the experience varies dramatically month to month. Understanding the seasonal patterns — wind, weather, crowds, and prices — lets you choose the best window.

May & June
The Mediterranean's best-kept secret. Water temperatures reach 20–22°C by June. Winds are moderate; in the Aegean, the meltemi hasn't built to its summer intensity. Anchorages are quiet, prices are at their lowest. Highly recommended for all levels.
July & August
Peak season. Hot, busy, and in the Aegean, windy. The meltemi blows force 4–6 most afternoons in the Cyclades. Popular anchorages are crowded; prices are 30–50% higher than shoulder season.

September & October
September is arguably the best month in the Mediterranean. The meltemi eases, water temperature is at its warmest (24–26°C), crowds thin, and prices drop. October brings occasional Atlantic depressions; weather is less reliable but still largely good.
