Fees
The USVI is simpler on fees than the BVI: there's no cruising tax, and the main extra is the modest Virgin Islands National Park mooring fee (around $26/night) in St John's protected bays. Because everything stays in US waters, you also skip the customs-clearance costs and time that come with hopping into the BVI. The usual refundable security deposit and cleaning fees apply.
Where to save
As with the whole Caribbean, season is the biggest lever — low-season rates fall sharply, though hurricane risk rises. A monohull saves meaningfully for smaller groups. Provisioning on St Thomas before departure beats the smaller St John shops. Model it with our cost calculator.
