Overview
A 10-day circuit from Lefkada allows you to explore all the major Ionian islands at a relaxed pace. Winds are lighter and more predictable than the Aegean, making this the ideal first Greek island experience.
The route
Days 1–2 — Lefkada: Explore the west coast beaches (Egremni, Porto Katsiki) from the water. Day 3 — Meganisi: Tiny island with exquisite anchorages. Days 4–5 — Kefalonia: Sail into Antisamos Bay and explore. Days 6–7 — Ithaka: Homer's Odysseus homeland. The port of Vathi is one of the most beautiful in the Ionian. Days 8–9 — Lefkada south coast: Return north via the sheltered bays of the Lefkada canal. Day 10: Return to base.
Key anchorages
Vathi (Ithaka), Kioni (Ithaka), Fiscardo (Kefalonia), Vathi (Meganisi). Arrive early in summer — the best spots go quickly in July and August.
Best time to go
May through October. June and September are the best months — warm, light winds, and uncrowded anchorages.
